  3. The float valve
  4. assembly regulates
  5. the amount of gas
  6. available inside
  7. the carburetor for
  8. immediate use when
  9. you press the
  10. accelerator pedal. 
  11. The float rides
  12. inside a
  13. "float-bowl" which
  14. holds a small fuel
  15. reserve.  As the
  16. level of fuel in
  17. the bowl goes down
  18. the float pulls
  19. open the float
  20. valve, allowing
  21. gasoline from the
  22. fuel pump to enter
  23. the bowl.  When the
  24. fuel rises to the
  25. proper level, the
  26. float closes the
  27. valve and stops the
  28. fuel flow.
